Orléans at 30 km/h
I have lived in Orléans, Ontario most of my life. This is where I grew up and where I chose to return to raise my family. Having kids made me realize all the issues with car-centric development. I am tired of being worried about my kids being run over by a car even if they are just playing in the yard. I also want them to experience the freedom I had biking around as a kid to the various parks in Châteauneuf growing up. I also don't want the infrastructure to keep crumbling because the city is too impoverished by spending money on car infrastructure. I don't want to be forced to drive them around or to spend money on a second car when the distances to activities is easily bikeable. So here I am trying to help make Orléans a place where people who choose to not use a car all the time have options.
I am a member of the board for Convent Glen Orléans Wood Community Association and Strong Towns Ottawa. My focus is on leveraging community associations to enable more density and alternatives to cars to make our cities more financially and environmentally sustainable and more liveable.
In my professional life, I work on transformation projects for the Government of Canada.
